DESERT DOMINION TO HOLD BBQ, GENERAL MEETING AND ELECTIONS
Jan 27 - Members only - 2 PM - no fee
The club will provide and cook hamburgers and hot dogs. Please
bring a share food. All members welcome.
January is the time to choose your leadership.
The elections and general business meeting will start at 3 PM.
Nominations for the board will be accepted from the floor, although -
if you declare early - your name can be circulated to the membership prior
to the meeting. The bylaws state that you must be a DD member for at
least six months in order to run for the board. If any of you are interested
in serving as a board member, please let the board know. If you would like
more information on the duties connected with the various board positions,
also let them know.
Be thinking about who you would nominate for what board position
and let the board know that too.
Come to the BBQ - Stay for the general meeting and elections. Get
involved in our community, and help us become the social and educational
group that we need to be.
ABOUT DESERT DOMINION We are a local pansexual, panfetish organization
and welcome everyone regardless of orientation, age (18 and above), race,
creed, religion, kink, etc. We would like to invite those who are in
the lifestyle, new to the scene or just curious about bdsm to come to
our events, meet us, socialize with us and learn with us. We are not
a dating service or sex club. We do not find partners for
people. We exist to support, educate, and socialize with one another
in a safe, sane, and consensual domain. Our members possess a variety
of years of experience, of education in related lifestyle activities,
and have widely diverse interests.
FEEDBACK NEEDED! Since we have our own space, we will start
mini seminars on subjects such as flogging, waxing. play-piercing, etc,
etc. There will be hands on training to learn how to do all these lovely
things that we like to do. The board could use some feedback from you
in the area of what you would like to see for educational events - both
the two hour seminars and the H.O.T's (hands on training sessions). Also
- any other activities that you would like to see sponsored such as discussion
or support groups. You can contact the Board through the website, newsletter
editor, DD phone line, or in person.
SPACE HEATS UP! As some of us have reason to know, the space
never got warm enough with the space heaters. (You would think that space
heaters would be just the ticket for heating a space!) That is changed,
now. At the New Year's Party on the 29th, the new (to us) heater got the
space warm enough that they had to turn it down. Hooray for toasty warm.
DESERT DOMINION'S FIRST WOMEN ONLY BDSM PARTY
Friday, January 18th, 8 PM. 3843 E. 37th Street -- $10.
Open to any female member of any BDSM organization that issues membership
cards. Must be 18 or over and have membership card and picture ID.

Just as my shoulders begin to lose their sting,

IN REFLECTION As we look over the past year, we could never
have imagined the events that have taken place. Yet we came through-both
as individuals and as a nation. We saw a re-emergence of heroes-in police
officers, in fire fighters, in many 'common people'. And even as thousands
of heroes gave their lives in September, many multiple thousands were affected
by their loss. We see a kinder, gentler spirit now than has been seen in
recent memory. The horror of what has happened has drawn us together.
In the wake of 9-11, perhaps we are more attuned to simple joys-friendship,
the right to make lifestyle choices, the strength we obtain in holding
together. We are more attuned when our simple joys are affected.
Our community has been affected by the passing last month of Dennis
M. - a former board member, a strong support of Desert Dominion and an
engaging conversationalist. I shall miss him.
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR BOARD POSITIONS
CHAIR: Runs the meetings - both for the board and the general meetings
- compiles the agenda - is the public relations person (if they are willing
to be "out" in the community).
VICE CHAIR: Runs the meetings in the absence of the Chair. Is
the head DM.
SECRETARY: Takes minutes at the meetings and has them available
at the next meeting. Handles any correspondence needed.
TREASURER: Is responsible for the money - for reconciling the receipts
and paying the bills. Checks the mailbox.
MEMBERSHIP CHAIR: Keeps the membership records up to date.
This is a partial list of the duties. Perhaps we could get a fuller
list if all the present board members would list what they have had to
do, and whether that should fall within the realm of that position or another,
or maybe a committee appointed to take care of it. (I know...more work
for an already overworked board!)
As we grow, it will become necessary to have standing committees
for parties, facility management, seminar planning, etc. If we all pull
together, the load won't be as heavy as for a few doing it all.
